WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY PRODUCTIVITY?

Productivity is nothing but the amount of work output produced by putting per unit input in the form of efforts by the person, a group, or an organization.

Don’t confuse productivity with efficiency. Efficiency is the number of resources used for the amount of work done. The more resources used to do the amount of work less the efficiency.

HERE ARE THE HABITS THAT WILL RAISE YOUR PRODUCTIVITY AT WORK,

 1) GIVE YOURSELF A GOAL.

Give yourself a goal, the goal will keep you focused on the work. It will motivate you to work hard to achieve what you have dreamed of.

If you are a team leader or an organization head, set a goal for your team members or your employees.

The goal will motivate your employees to work in harmony and will increase their seriousness about work. Setting goals will increase productivity at work.

2) SET DEADLINES TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY AT WORK.

Set deadlines for your work and assignments or give a deadline to your employees. It is found in the studies that if you get a deadline for any work you are doing, probably you will complete the work before the deadlines expire. The same is true for your employees.

It will increase the seriousness of work. By setting, deadlines will help you to become productive. Don’t procrastinate, don’t postpone your deadline without any reason.

Though you have ample time to finish your work, do it in time anyway.

 3) GIVE THEM CATHEDRAL.

In other words, give your team member or your employee a sense of purpose. Simon Sinek in his book “START WITH WHY” gave this expert advice to leaders and to the team head. He shares one story to explain this term. The story of two stonemasons working to build a cathedral.

These two stonemasons are doing exactly the same thing but one of them has a sense of purpose. He feels like he is doing something larger than life and he is glad that he belongs to something bigger than his work. Sense of purpose will make him more productive and more loyal. Sense of purpose keeps him motivated and focused.

On the other hand, other stonemason working in the same place at the same time thinks that the work is monotonous and boring and he really doesn’t enjoy his work because he doesn’t have sense of purpose.

Lack of sense of purpose keeps him demotivated and lack loyalty to work. He is just working for paychecks and nothing else. this will affect his productivity.

The same can be applied to your employees. If they have a sense of purpose it will make them more productive and loyal to your organization. Give your employees a sense of purpose. Inspire and motivate them for work, give them a cathedral.

4) APPLY THE KAIZEN PHILOSOPHY TO WORK.

Kaizen is the Japanese philosophy of business. Kaizen is the practice of continuous small improvement in work.

Make continuous small improvements or changes in yourself and in your work. These small improvements will make a big difference in your life and will help you to become more productive.

If you are a team head or organization head, inspire your teammates or your employees to keep making continuous small improvements in work.

When your employee suggested some good improvement apply it in your work and if possible, give them a reward if it worked.

If you apply his suggested change or improvement, it will make him feel special and he will become loyal to your company. The reward will motivate them and keep them innovative and curious.

This will increase the productivity of your team and organization.

 5) DON’T WASTE TIME TO INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY AT WORK.

Though you don’t have a deadline to finish work, try to finish it in time. Wasting time will reduce your productivity.

Stop wasting time on the phone, social media, in unnecessary meetings. Don’t waste time on unnecessary traveling. Stop procrastinating, procrastination is a trap to lose productivity.

If required go to toastmasters or join courses. Improve your skill set according to time, this will help you to become more productive.
